This is the newest 1000mW version from Alfa, brand new in the retail box! It includes the adapter, a 5 dBi antenna, a 9 dBi antenna, driver CD, and a USB cable. Also included is a holster case mount with detachable suction cup and clip. Note that the mount and attachments are not standard accessories included in the retail box, and so listings on other web sites from other sellers may not come with a mount unless described. The mount allows you to affix the Alfa adapter to a surface such as a window, or clip it to the back of a laptop LCD. The 9 dBi antenna included in this auction is an Alfa product too, not a generic antenna. The Alfa logo is printed right on the antenna. Why would this adapter work better than a generic 1000mW USB adapter, since they both have the same output power? -1000mW refers to the maximum output power at which the device can operate. It is important to read the fine print. Many generics can technically output at 1000mw max, but can only do so at very slow connection speeds. The other important distinction is the chipset. The Alfa has a Realtek RTL8187 chip which is the most sensitive Realtek G chipset. How far away can I pick up signals with this? -For this question there is no exact answer. Wireless range is an imperfect science. The range you get with any adapter will vary markedly depending on the strength and quality of the wireless access point being used, as well as obstacles and interference in the area. Keep in mind that interference can often be invisible. The Alfa is the longest range and most powerful standalone wireless adapter on the market at the time of this writing. Basically, if this kit does not work for you, you will likely need to look into some sort of high gain outdoor setup. We will not charge a restocking fee if you wish to exchange a non-defective product for something else, however a new shipping charge will apply for the new shipment. While we would certainly appreciate your business, if you feel that a restocking fee would not be acceptable in the event you want to return a non-defective product to us, please do not make the purchase. Insurance and proof of shipment: Items sent outside the USA are insured. US Postal Regulations state insurance covers only the cost of the product, and does not cover the shipping charge. If your product has not arrived within 21 mailing days of shipping, please contact us so we can trace the package for you. All parcels are sent with tracking and tracking information is provided to the customer at the time of shipment. If your package is lost in transit, we will file an insurance claim on your behalf. The US Postal Service requires that all insurance claim filings include a signed letter from you, the recipient, stating you have not received the parcel shipped to your address. This is a requirement and the letter can be faxed to us, scanned and emailed, or sent through Postal mail. We cannot issue any refunds for lost packages or ship any replacements without this letter. If you select a replacement, we will pay to ship it to you. If you select a refund, you will be refunded only the price of the product, as noted above US Postal Regulations do not allow us to insure the cost of the postage. 3.
