The Item This is for 1 unit Alfa APA-M04 (Alfa brand 7 dBi directional panel antenna) and 1 unit ARS-AS01 (Alfa brand magnetic mount docking base with 3 foot cable). This is a great way to get more signal on your Alfa Network wireless receiver, such as Alfa models AWUS036H or AWUS036NH. Simply connect the directional antenna to the magnetic base, and then connect the cable built into the base to your Alfa adapter’s RP-SMA port. Now you can place the antenna and base up to three feet away from your Alfa adapter to increase your reception. The antenna can also be hooked directly to your Alfa adapter when you do not need to use the magbase. Put the antenna on a window sill near your desk, or place it on the top of your car for increased Wi-Fi reception when traveling (never use Wi-Fi and drive at the same time of course!). This base will work with any WiFi device that has an RP-SMA port, it does not have to be Alfa brand only. The diameter of the base is 2.5 inches. In light city driving we found this base to stay attached to the outside of the car without an antenna attached. We reached speeds of 40-50 mph. We did not test with an antenna attached, and recommend you always detach your antenna from the base when your vehicle is mobile as something such as a tree limb could knock it off and make it a potential road hazard. We do not recommend leaving the docking base attached at speeds above 40 mph though we have not done any further speed testing. Our company makes no claims about travel speeds and we would suggest the magnetic base only be used when the vehicle is stationary just to be on the safe side. More about the directional antenna: the above image is not a precise scientific comparison drawing, but an illustration to show in a general sense how the two antenna types compare. This 7 dBi gain panel antenna is directional. Antennas that usually come with Wi-Fi adapters are often omni-directional. Omni-directional antennas can detect signals from multiple directions. Gain is not concentrated in one particular direction. Omni-directional antennas work best when you are mobile and do not know where signals are originating. Directional antennas concentrate gain in a particular direction. While the antenna does not need to be in a perfect line of sight to the signal, it needs to be pointed in the general direction. Due to the way antennas work, directional antennas can pick up signals that are the in the opposite direction, but they will be weaker than if the antenna was pointed in that direction. As our graphic above illustrates, each antenna type has an advantage over the other. That is why it is best to have each type, so you can use the antenna that is best for your particular needs. Because directional antennas work best in the direction they are pointed, in many cases you will detect more signals overall with your omni-directional antenna, but find that your directional antenna may get stronger signal strength to signals it is aimed at, and it may also detect additional signals in the direction it is pointed, signals the omni cannot see. *In one of the photos above you will see the antenna used with an Alfa AWUS036H long range 1000mW USB Wi-Fi adapter. This adapter is not included in this sale and is shown just for demonstration purposes. Shipping Options Orders will generally be shipped the same or next day after payment is received. Periodically if we are experiencing unusually high order volume, your order may not be shipped until the second business day after payment is received, but this is not usual. We offer both UPS and US Postal methods of shipping as described below. US 50 States + Puerto Rico: FREE US Postal Parcel Post/First Class. This includes delivery confirmation and insurance. It can take from 3-7 days to arrive, and sometimes longer. US 50 States + Puerto Rico: $4.00 US Postal Priority Mail. This includes delivery confirmation and insurance. According to the US Postal Service, Priority Mail takes an average of 2-3 delivery days to arrive. This is not a guaranteed transit time though, it is just an average delivery time. US 48 States: $8.50 UPS Ground Service. This includes insurance and tracking. This rate is only for bidders in the Continental US. We do ship to Alaska/Hawaii and APO/FPO but it must go via the US Postal Service so please take a look at a US Postal option. If you need the item shipped via an expedited method like 2nd Day Air, please inquire with your zip code for rates before bidding. UPS Ground can take from 1-7 days or longer depending on your proximity to our shipping location which is in Florida. UPS can take longer than US Postal Service Priority Mail, but UPS tracking tends to be updated more often than Postal Service tracking, and UPS tracking typically posts an estimated delivery date online within 12 hours after shipping, where as US Postal Serivce tracking does not. International Shipping Rates and Information: Shipping outside of the US is $5.00. This is for Standard mail which takes about 2-4 weeks to arrive. Because of the low cost of this auction, we are not offering any more expensive faster methods of delivery outside of the USA. Many countries will charge the recipient import tax on items purchased on . We do not have knowledge of which countries charge tax and how much it could be. Customers are advised to contact their local postal or tax offices prior to bidding. Rokand is not responsible and will not reimburse international buyers for taxes charged on delivery. Payment Details United States bidders: Payment can be made via PayPal. We can also take credit card orders directly (details for direct credit card payment will be emailed to buyer at the time the sale is processed by our staff). Payment must be made in full before we ship. Payment is due within 7 days from purchase. Accepted International Payment Methods: For international payment, we accept PayPal. Due to restrictions of our merchant processor, we are not able to take credit cards that do not have a USA billing and shipping address. Return Policy The following is our return policy. We are not able to make exceptions to this policy. This item is guaranteed to work for 30 days. We also want customers to be able to return products that they don’t want, don’t like, or did not mean to buy. Because we incur costs for each return ( fees, needing to resell open box items at a much lower price, etc.), we charge a minimal 10% restocking fee on all returned items (new and used), except for products that test defective upon receipt back here. Because many of our auctions include free or discounted shipping options, this also helps cover our original postage expense. We believe this is a fair policy as most sellers do not allow for any non-defective items to be returned, and the ones that do typically charge a 20% restocking fee. If the product you return is defective we can send a replacement at our expense or issue a refund of the item price, whichever you prefer. Please contact us for support if needed- if our support staff cannot get the item working for you, no restocking fee will be applied to your return. If you return a product without contacting and troubleshooting with us, a restocking fee will be applied if the product tests working upon receipt back here. If your product has not arrived within 45 mailing days of shipping (30 days for Express shipments), please contact us so we canl file an insurance claim on your behalf. The US Postal Service requires that all insurance claim filings include a signed letter from you, the recipient, stating you have not received the parcel shipped to your address. This is a requirement and the letter can be faxed to us, scanned and emailed, or sent through Postal mail. We cannot issue any refunds for lost packages or ship any replacements without this letter. If you select a replacement, we will pay to ship it to you. If you select a refund, you will be refunded only the price of the product, as noted above US Postal Regulations do not allow us to insure the cost of the postage. 3.
